Frequently asked questions
How much can I save by switching to solar?
Savings depend on your energy usage, system size, and location, but most households and businesses see a significant reduction in their electricity bills after switching to solar. We provide a tailored savings estimate as part of every free quote.
Are your installers licensed and accredited?
Yes. All Austra Green Energy installations are carried out by CEC-accredited (Clean Energy Council) professionals, in line with Australian standards and regulations.
Do I need a battery, or is solar alone enough?
Batteries aren't essential — solar alone still reduces your bill by covering daytime energy use. A battery allows you to store excess solar and use it at night or during a blackout, maximising your savings and energy independence. We'll help you decide what makes sense for your situation.
What's involved in the installation process?
After your free consultation and system design, our licensed team handles the full installation, including any required approvals or grid connection paperwork. We keep you informed at every step.
How long do solar panels and batteries last?
Quality solar panels typically last 25+ years, with most manufacturers offering long-term performance warranties. Battery lifespan varies by brand and usage but is generally covered by manufacturer warranties of 10 years or more.
Do you offer support after installation?
Yes. We provide ongoing system monitoring and support after your installation is complete — we don't disappear once the system is switched on.
Are there rebates or government incentives available?
Depending on your location and circumstances, there may be state or federal incentives available, such as Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) or state-based battery and solar rebate schemes. We'll walk you through what you may be eligible for as part of your quote.
What warranties come with my system?
Panels, inverters, and batteries are covered by manufacturer warranties — typically up to 25 years on panels and 10 years on inverters, depending on the brand. We'll confirm exact warranty terms for your chosen system as part of your quote.
What happens if something goes wrong after installation?
You contact us directly. Our team provides ongoing support and monitoring, and any manufacturer warranty claims are handled on your behalf, not left for you to chase up alone.
Will solar work if my roof isn't north-facing or gets some shade?
In most cases, yes. Modern panel and inverter technology has significantly reduced the impact of less-than-ideal orientation or partial shading. We assess your specific roof during the consultation and design around it, rather than assuming a one-size-fits-all layout.
